YEIDA Approves Layout Plan for Film City Phase 1 Project
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has approved the layout for Phase 1 of the Film City project, led by film producer Boney Kapoor, on January 30, 2025. The project will cover 230 acres in Sector 21 and is expected to be completed in 8 years. The foundation is likely to be laid in February.
The development, which will cost around Rs 1,510 crore, includes 155 acres for film production facilities like studios, sound stages, and post-production units. It also plans 75 acres for a commercial hub with retail spaces, offices, and entertainment complexes. There will be 23 acres for green spaces.
The project must meet sustainability standards, including GRIHA 4-Star and IGBC Gold certifications. It will also have essential services like a sewage treatment plant and an electrical substation. The layout includes a film institute for training in filmmaking, acting, and cinematography.
Boney Kapoor emphasized that the Film City will reduce production costs by providing equipment like cameras and lighting on-site, and it will also offer large indoor studio spaces for shooting. Any changes to the approved layout will need YEIDA’s approval.
