There’s news about a significant Sports City project in Sector 150 in Noida. This project was put on hold in 2021 because of some issues found during an audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). The audit raised concerns about how the land for the project was allocated.
Now, the Noida Authority is considering lifting the ban on this project. Officials plan to discuss it in their next board meeting. The project, given to Lotus Greens Constructions, has left over 10,000 homebuyers waiting and has an enormous debt of more than Rs 2,700 crore to the Noida Authority.
The Authority might let another company join the project as a co-developer to move forward. The Aditya Birla Group is a possible partner if Lotus Greens meets certain conditions. Lokesh M, the CEO of Noida Authority, mentioned that they will review the updated plans for the project. These plans include dedicating 70% of the land to top-quality sports facilities.
The next board meeting will be crucial to decide whether to lift the ban. The Authority will also need to undo some decisions made during a board meeting in January 2021 based on the CAG’s concerns. Since the project was halted, no sales, purchases, or flat registrations for Sports City have been allowed. The Authority has not approved any new building plans until the developers complete the sports facilities and follow all the regulations set for the project.
