32-Km Highway Along Yamuna Expressway Got Green Flag
Noida Authority, RITES, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), and the irrigation department have meticulously planned to make a 32-km parallel Highway along the Yamuna River to combat the traffic congestion. The decision to build the Highway is a proactive measure, anticipating the expected surge in traffic. With the New Jewar International Airport set to open soon, the region is bracing for a significant increase in footfall. The Highway will play a crucial role in managing this influx.
This Highway will bring significant relief to commuters, especially from the expanding business activities and the forthcoming flood of travellers after the airport becomes operational in October 2024. This news should bring a sense of relief to the residents and commuters in the Noida region. The proposed 32-km highway will traverse a strategic route, starting from Sector 94, near the Delhi border, and extending to Sector 150, near Greater Noida. It will enhance traffic flow in the region, providing a direct link from the airport to the Yamuna Expressway via the Yamuna-Pushta road.
A nine-member group, led by additional CEO Sanjay Khatri and including officials from NHAI, the irrigation department and RITES, has diligently examined the proposed highway’s viability, scrutinising alignment details and logistical factors. This collaborative effort reassures us of the project's success.Khatri explained the importance of stakeholders in making the proposed highway, the NHAI’s involvement in land requisition, the irrigation department’s inspection of current road measurements and land availability, and RITES’ duty for design and cost predictions.
Officials concluded by saying that the 32-km highway will improve the connectivity to residential sectors around the Yamuna River, including sectors 128, 135, 150, 151, and 168, as well as Greater Noida, in addition to traffic reduction. Authority will build two round-bouts also to encourage seamless travel and provide commuters with easy entry and exit places.
