Connecting Noida Airport to the Entire Country

Modern Underground Transport System to Boost Connectivity at Noida International Airport

A new underground transport system is planned for Noida International Airport, which will be the longest track to accommodate rail, metro, light rail transit (LRT), and Indian Railways. This project aims to boost connectivity not only to the airport but across the entire NCR (National Capital Region). It will move forward once the Ministry of Railways grants approval.

Part of the 2041 Master Plan

The CEO of the Yamuna Authority, Dr. Anveer Singh, said that the railway tracks could either be elevated or underground, depending on what suits the area best. This decision aligns with the Yamuna Authority’s 2041 Master Plan, which has already received government approval.

Building the tracks on the ground level might affect some important projects, so constructing them underground or elevated is a better option. As part of this plan, Chola Station will be developed into a major railway station for Noida, and the construction costs will be covered entirely by the Yamuna Development Authority. Additionally, a new expressway is proposed to improve connectivity between New Noida and rail and air services.

Linking New Delhi-Howrah with Noida Airport

Dr. Anveer Singh also mentioned that there will be tracks for freight trains to carry cargo via air. The railway line will primarily connect Noida Airport with the Delhi-Howrah route, ensuring direct train services from New Delhi Railway Station to Indira Gandhi International Airport. Considering passengers' convenience, metro-like trains such as Vande Bharat could also be operated on this route. The airport construction is progressing quickly, and international and domestic flights are expected to start by April.

Widespread Connectivity

A proposal has been submitted to Indian Railways to link the Amritsar-Kolkata line and the Delhi-Mumbai line with Noida Airport. This will connect the airport to many parts of India. Initially, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) planned for 28 trains, but the project has been expanded to cover routes across Western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Central Uttar Pradesh.

This means that trains from all over the country will be able to reach Noida Airport. Additionally, several new expressways are being developed in Uttar Pradesh, and there are plans to link the Ganga Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, and other routes to the Jewar Toll Plaza. A final decision on this is expected soon.
