Major Development 2025: 5 New Cities Announced by UP Govt
Uttar Pradesh (UP), under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has set an ambitious goal to transform its economy into a 1 trillion dollors powerhouse by 2029. To fullfill this ambition UP government plans to build 5 new cities near Jewar Airport named New Noida, Integrated Industrial Township (IITGN), Heritage City, Tappal-Bajna, and New Agra Township.
These cities aim to boost UP’s tourism, manufacturing capacity, industrial development, etc. In this blog, we will understand all the information about these cities, their plans, and how they will contribute to UP’s and India’s growth.
Jewar Airport to be operational by 15 May
Jewar Airport will be operational from the 15th of May. As the date of the airport’s launch gradually approaches, the UP government is ready with their other development plans nearby.
The government has launched their 56,000-hectare massive plan to create 5 townships near Jewar Airport like Noida and Greater Noida. As these cities are becoming overcrowded and reaching their capacity to handle industrial and population growth, these new cities will work as extensions.
The new cities are being planned within the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor plan, which aims to transform the landscape of many regions including western UP into a major industrial, IT, and business hub.
5 New Cities Proposed Nearby Noida International Airport
Every city planned has a unique feature and serves a specific purpose. Like New Agra, it mainly aims to focus on tourism; Heritage City – Braj culture; IITGN – industries and manufacturing; New Noida – a modern township and an extension of Noida; and Tappal-Bajna – urban center and logistics.
Let’s explore these cities and their important details…
1. New Noida – The Most Awaited Modern Township
Noida’s increasing population and land scarcity prompted the authority to look for new regions and land parcels for Noida’s extension. New Noida – officially known as Dadri-Noida-Ghaziabad Investment Region – is being developed on 20,911 hectares. The region aims to push UP’s industrial growth and accommodate new residents.
New Noida will focus on industries and logistics with a strong emphasis on sectors like information technology, electronics, renewable energy, defence, and automobile manufacturing. The land and aerial surveys are being conducted and for that 1,000 crores have been allocated too.
As per some anticipations, the city will provide 12 lakh jobs by 2040. Its growth is inevitable, as it is highly accessible to Jewar Airport, the Dedicated Freight Corridor, and lies right by the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, while ensuring connectivity to NH-91 and the Bulandshahr-Jewar Road.
2. The Integrated Industrial Township in Greater Noida (IITGN)
This new mega township is spread across 302 hectares and located near Jewar Airport and the DMIC corridor. The project is based on a plug-and-play model, meaning efficiently using resources with minimal effort.
The design and planning of the city are already attracting big companies and international investors. 18+ multinational companies like Haier, Formi Mobile, J World Electronics, etc., have shown interest in the project and are planning investments.
The project offers uninterrupted power supply, LED-lit streets, a modern waste management system, integrated CCTV coverage, and a centralized control room for efficient monitoring. Also, there is a residential zone to ensure the employees are accommodated properly to maintain their work-life balance.
3. Heritage City – Promoting Braj Culture and Religious Significance
The UP government is widely focusing on religious tourism too. With the newly built Kashi Corridor, Ayodhya temple, and redevelopment of different temples, they are focusing on cultural and religion-based tourism in the region.
In addition to this, they have brought forward this city called Heritage City – being built in Mathura to help more people visit and enjoy the area’s rich culture and religion. It is part of a bigger area called Raya Urban Centre – 11,653 hectares. The city is based on the life of Lord Krishna and the Braj culture and will span over 750 hectares.
There will be a special theme park, yoga and wellness centers, green parks, and a beautiful area near the Yamuna River. People can stay in luxury hotels or budget hotels, so it will be good for all kinds of visitors.
This place is also easy to reach. It is close to Mathura, Vrindavan, Gokul, and Agra and only 75 km away from Noida International Airport, which takes just around an hour by car. The new Heritage City will help more people come to learn about the culture, pray, relax, and enjoy. It will also help the local people by bringing more jobs and money to the area.
4. Tappal Bajna Logistics Park
Tappal-Bajna Logistics Park is one of the most strategic investments done by the UP government. The logistics park is being built within the township named Tappal Bajna Urban Centre. The township spans over 11,104 hectares, with 364 hectares dedicated purely to the logistics park.
This township is being designed to meet the rising cargo demands of western UP, NCR, Haryana, and Rajasthan. It will house specialized warehouses for cement, steel, grains, and automobiles, along with repair facilities, weighbridges, and rail customs links.
The logistics park will be built in three phases – 205 acres in Phase I, 110 acres in Phase II, and 48 acres in Phase III, with a total expenditure of 1,040 crores.
5. New Agra Township
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is starting a big new project in Agra. They are planning to build a modern township that will make Agra more than just the city of the Taj Mahal. This new area will cover around 12,200 hectares on both sides of the Yamuna Expressway.
The new township will have many exciting things like shops, hotels, theme parks, and fun places for families. It will also have green zones and rules to keep the air clean, especially near the Taj Mahal. This area is part of the Taj Trapezium Zone, where air pollution must be controlled to protect the beautiful monument and the environment.
One big benefit is that this new township will be directly connected to Noida Airport using the expressway. This will make it easier for tourists to visit Agra.
YEIDA has hired a private company to make the full plan for the township. They have nine months to complete it. The main goal is to help more tourists come to Agra, build better roads and buildings, and invite businesses to open hotels, resorts, and amusement parks.
In conclusion, the UP government is building five new cities near Jewar Airport to grow tourism, jobs, and industries. Each city has a special purpose, like helping factories, culture, transport, or tourism. These smart plans will bring more visitors, better roads, and new businesses. Together, they will help UP and India become stronger and more developed in the future.
