PMAY U 2.0 2025 : Know your eligibility, documents, and filing process.
Are you living on rent and tired of paying lakhs of rupees in rent? Take advantage of the PMAY U 2.0 scheme initiated under housing for all. Under this scheme, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs implements the scheme to provide financial assistance to eligible families in urban areas through the following four verticals:
PMAY-U 2.0 Scheme Guidelines as per the four verticals mentioned.
Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC): It helps families with low incomes to build their pucca houses. Families in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), earning up to 3 lakh a year, can get financial help of up to 2.5 lakh.
The money is for building new houses on their own land. The houses can be up to 45 square meters in size and are meant to provide safe, all-weather homes. This program is for families who already have land but need support to build a proper house.
The Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP): AHP is for families who want to buy affordable homes. Houses with a carpet area of 30-45 square meters are built by government or private builders. These homes are sold to families in the EWS category with an income of up to 3 lakh a year.
Buyers can get up to 2.5 lakh as financial assistance, which is provided by the central and state governments. This program ensures that low-income families can afford safe and decent homes at a lower cost.
The Affordable Rental Housing (ARH): It provides low-cost rental homes for people who cannot afford to buy or build their own houses. It is especially for urban workers like street vendors, rickshaw pullers, construction workers, and contract employees.
These homes are clean and safe and come with basic facilities like water, sanitation, and community spaces. Families in the EWS group (earning up to 3 lakh) and Low-Income Group (LIG, earning up to 6 lakh) can apply for this. The program is also designed to support migrants and other urban poor who need temporary housing.
The Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS): It reduces the cost of home loans for people who want to buy, build, or rebuild a house. Families in the EWS, LIG, and middle-income group (MIG) categories can benefit. EWS families earning up to 3 lakh, LIG families earning up to 6 lakh, and MIG families earning up to 9 lakh a year are eligible.
The government provides a subsidy on the loan interest, making monthly payments more affordable. Applicants need to show proof of income to qualify for this program.
These programs work together to make housing affordable and accessible for everyone, especially those with limited income.
