Noida’s New Connectivity Projects: A Game Changer for Traffic Jams
Noida is a hub of urban development and offers numerous job opportunities. People from all over the NCR region come to Noida daily in search of valuable opportunities. As a center of attraction, Noida is continuously working to improve its connectivity and address traffic jams.
While there are minimal traffic jams within the city, traffic congestion on the borders has become a significant headache for the authorities. Over 15 lakh people travel daily across the borders to Noida, often getting stuck in traffic jams for hours.
To address this issue, the Noida Authority has recently announced several connectivity projects that will reduce traffic burden and provide people with a smoother commuting experience. In this blog, we will highlight five such connectivity options that the Noida Authority has planned to develop to tackle the ongoing traffic jam problem across the border.
FNG Expressway construction is about to start
The Haryana government has approved the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway, which will make travel easier for people in Delhi-NCR. This new road will connect Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad, helping to reduce traffic jams and boost the economy.
The FNG Expressway has been in the works for about 20 years, but construction only started recently, with Uttar Pradesh taking the lead and Haryana now joining in. A 600-meter bridge will be built over the Yamuna River near Lalpur village.
Both Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will share the cost of this bridge equally. Over 100,000 people travel daily between Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Noida, and this new expressway will save them time. Currently, travelers go through Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj, but the FNG Expressway will provide the first direct link between Faridabad and Uttar Pradesh.
Chilla Elevated Road Construction Starts
Construction has begun on the Chilla Elevated Road project, which will connect Delhi and Noida. The project aims to reduce traffic jams on the Delhi-Noida Link Road. Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M performed the Bhumi Pujan for the 5.6 km elevated road, which will connect Chilla in Delhi to the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida.
The road will provide relief to commuters and ease traffic during peak hours. The construction contract was awarded to MG Construction on December 17, 2024, by the Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation Limited. Due to funding and logistical issues, the project was delayed for four years. It is expected to be completed in three years.
The elevated road will reduce traffic congestion between Noida Sector 14A and Mahamaya Flyover, benefiting commuters traveling to Greater Noida, Sector 37, Kalindi Kunj, and Faridabad. The project will benefit around 1 million people daily, cutting travel time and making access to Sector 16 easier.
5.5-kilometer elevated road from Rajnigandha Underpass to Sector-57 Chowk
The Noida Authority has announced plans to build a 5.5-kilometer elevated road from Rajnigandha Underpass to Sector-57 Chowk to ease traffic congestion. This four-lane road will connect key sectors like 3, 12, 22, 56, and 57, benefiting both residential and industrial areas.
IIT Roorkee has been tasked with preparing a detailed project report and conducting a feasibility survey. Once completed, this road will eliminate several traffic signals and reduce travel time from 30 minutes to just 10 minutes. It will especially help commuters from Khoda, Indirapuram, and Delhi traveling towards Ghaziabad.
The project is expected to cost between 600-700 crore rupees, with the exact cost determined after the survey. The road will be supported by a single pillar, reducing traffic load on the road beneath.
Work is expected to speed up, following initial foundations laid in 2015-16. This elevated road, along with other ongoing projects, will provide major relief to Noida residents and reduce congestion.
Yamuna Pushta Road
The Noida Authority has requested the Uttar Pradesh government to designate a 30-kilometer stretch of Yamuna Pushta Road as a National Highway. This road, connecting Sector 94 to Sector 150, will help manage traffic from corporate growth and the upcoming Noida International Airport.
The proposal includes an eight-lane or six-lane elevated corridor. Experts believe this upgrade will ease congestion, improve connectivity, and boost real estate development in Noida and Greater Noida. The improved infrastructure is expected to attract more investors, businesses, and homebuyers, making the region a key growth hub in the coming years.
In conclusion, Noida's new connectivity projects, such as the FNG Expressway, Chilla Elevated Road, and the 5.5-kilometer elevated road, are set to significantly reduce traffic jams and improve travel times. These initiatives will not only ease commuting for residents but also support economic growth and real estate development in the region. With improved infrastructure, Noida aims to become even more accessible and attractive to businesses and commuters.
